How this screen works

Most movers build up first — open interest, bulk deals, a volume base — and Strota's other screens catch that. But some stocks detonate on a single fresh announcement with no prior footprint: an order win, a buyback, an acquisition, a regulatory approval. This screen is built for exactly that case.

It reads NSE and BSE corporate-announcement filings (plus keyword-triggered business-news headlines) as they publish, classifies each into an event type with a likely direction, and shows the stock's live price reaction alongside — so you can tell a catalyst the market has already chased from one it hasn't reacted to yet.

Filings are pulled from NSE's and BSE's corporate-announcement feeds; business-news headlines are pulled by catalyst keyword and matched to a listed company. Each is classified into an event type (order win, buyback, M&A, partnership, expansion, approval, rating change, promoter action, results, penalty, resignation, shutdown, bonus/split, dividend) with a bullish, bearish or neutral lean.

Rows are ranked by significance — event type weight × source reliability (exchange filings rank above news) × freshness, since a two-day-old catalyst is largely priced in. The Move column is the stock's change from the previous close right now, and Status flags the live reaction: 🔥 reacting up, 🔻 reacting down, or 🔒 locked at a circuit (a sizeable move with no intraday range — un-enterable). Status is only available for stocks in the live indicator universe.

Where it's been measured, the event type carries an empirical verdict from a backtest of months of past filings against the next-session reaction (net of market drift and cost): 🟢 the lean usually holds, 🔴 it tends to fade or reverse, ⚪ no reliable next-session edge. For example order wins and promoter buying have historically continued, while some event types the market prices in immediately. Hover the verdict for the win-rate and sample size.

A catalyst is information about why a stock may move, not a forecast that it will. The market often prices an event in within minutes, and even a 🟢 verdict is a base rate, not a guarantee for any single name. Cross-check the live move, volume and the filing itself.

What counts as a news catalyst here?
A fresh corporate event filed to NSE/BSE or reported in the business press that can move a stock on its own — order and contract wins, buybacks, acquisitions and mergers, joint ventures, capacity expansion, regulatory or drug approvals, credit-rating changes, promoter buying or selling, strong or weak results, regulatory penalties, key resignations, plant shutdowns, and bonus/split/dividend actions.

How is the bullish/bearish lean decided?
Strota classifies each announcement's subject line into an event type, and each event type carries a typical directional lean (an order win or buyback is bullish; a rating downgrade or promoter stake sale is bearish; a bonus or split is treated as neutral). It is a prior based on the event type, not a price prediction.

Can this predict gap-ups and gap-downs?
It surfaces the catalysts that frequently cause them — announcements made after hours or pre-open are the raw material of the next session's gaps. But whether a stock actually gaps, and how far, depends on how much the market had already priced in. Treat the list as the watchlist of names with a live reason to move, not a guarantee.

How often does it update?
Through the session, as new filings publish — exchange announcement feeds are polled every few minutes. The 'Filed' column shows how long ago each catalyst was disclosed.
