today's lists from the latest NSE session

NSE publishes its list of trading holidays for the coming year each December. On these days the equity, equity derivatives (F&O) and securities lending segments are closed; BSE follows the same calendar. The list below is taken from NSE's circular for 2026.

The panel at the top answers the everyday question - is the market open today? - using the same calendar and NSE's regular hours: a pre-open session from 9:00 am, continuous trading from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm.

Market hours on a normal trading day

Equity and F&O trading runs Monday to Friday. The pre-open session runs from 9:00 am to 9:15 am, with orders collected in the first eight minutes and the opening price discovered in the remainder; continuous trading then runs from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm. Weekends are closed except for special sessions such as Muhurat trading.

Holidays on weekends and special sessions

Some festivals fall on a Saturday or Sunday, when the market is closed anyway; NSE lists them separately and they cost no trading day. In 2026, Diwali Laxmi Pujan falls on Sunday, 8 November, and NSE will hold the one-hour Muhurat trading session that day, with timings notified by circular.

Commodity (MCX) and currency derivatives segments keep their own calendars - on some equity holidays they trade a morning or evening session - so check those separately.

When is the 2027 list published?

NSE normally publishes the next year's trading holidays in December. This page will add the 2027 list once the circular is out.
