Daily BSE Sensex open, high, low and close from NSE’s end-of-day index file, updated after each session (no intraday bars). Volume is the index constituents’ traded shares where NSE publishes it. Charts by TradingView Lightweight Charts™ © TradingView, Inc.
Sensex options trade on BSE, not NSE, so NSE's option chain does not show them. This page builds the chain from BSE's own data: open interest, the day's change in open interest and premiums at each strike of the nearest weekly expiry, with the put-call ratio and max pain.
Sensex weekly options expire on Thursdays. Each contract is 20 units of the index. During market hours the chain updates through the session; after the close it shows BSE's end-of-day figures.
Reading the Sensex chain
Calls are on the left and puts on the right of each strike. The strike with the largest call open interest is where option writers are most heavily positioned above the market, often read as resistance; the largest put open interest below the market is read as support. The day's change in open interest shows where new positions were built.
Max pain is the expiry level at which option buyers as a group would collect least. The put-call ratio divides put open interest by call open interest; above 1, puts outweigh calls. Both describe positioning, not direction: see the tests on the max pain and PCR pages.
Sensex expiry and contract details
Sensex options expire weekly on Thursday, with a monthly expiry on the last Thursday; when Thursday is a holiday, expiry moves to the previous trading day. The lot size is 20. See the Sensex weekly expiry guide and the full expiry schedule.
Key takeaways
