What is long unwinding?
Long unwinding is when traders holding long futures positions close them out. It shows up as price falling while open interest falls — the decline is driven by longs exiting, not by new shorts.
How is long unwinding different from short buildup?
Both are bearish with falling price. In Short Buildup open interest rises (fresh shorts entering); in Long Unwinding open interest falls (existing longs exiting). Short buildup is the more aggressive bearish signal.
How is the list calculated?
